BiaMetrix – Frequently Asked Questions

About BiaMetrix | Gut Health & Microbiome Testing

BiaMetrix is a gut‑health platform that combines non‑diagnostic microbiome testing with clear, practical nutrition support.

We work with people who live with gut symptoms, food intolerances or allergies, and those who feel confused about what they can safely eat. Our focus is on education and nutrition, not on making medical diagnoses.

BiaMetrix is supported by the herNutrea microbiome programme.

BiaMetrix is for people who:

  • experience bloating, gas, discomfort or irregular bowel habits
  • suspect food intolerances or sensitivities and want more clarity
  • live with allergies or immune‑related issues
  • notice skin issues (such as rashes or flare‑ups) and are curious about the gut–skin connection
  • feel overwhelmed by conflicting nutrition advice and want structured, science‑informed guidance
  • want to support gut health as part of their long‑term wellbeing

If your main goal is medical diagnosis or treatment, BiaMetrix should be used alongside, not instead of, your healthcare provider’s care.

No. BiaMetrix is not a diagnostic service.

  • It does not diagnose medical conditions.
  • It does not replace tests ordered by your doctor.
  • It is not a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis or treatment.

We provide non‑diagnostic microbiome insights and nutrition guidance that can complement the support you receive from your healthcare team.

Microbiome Testing

The BiaMetrix test is an at‑home stool test that looks at:

  • the composition and balance of your gut bacteria
  • patterns that research has associated with a tendency towards issues such as IBS‑type symptoms, SIBO‑like patterns and gluten sensitivity

Your results are summarised in an easy‑to‑understand report focused on what the findings may mean for your everyday gut health and food choices.

The test is informational, not diagnostic.

Each kit has a unique activation code. Before sending your sample:

  • go to our test‑kit activation page (the link on your instruction card and on the website)
  • enter the activation code and your details
  • check that the code on your kit matches what you entered and confirm

Activation links your sample to your account so the laboratory can process it and we can deliver your results.

Yes. Your kit includes:

  • step‑by‑step instructions
  • a clean, discreet collection system
  • a tube with stabilising solution
  • packaging for safe return to the lab

You collect a small stool sample at home, place it in the tube and seal everything as instructed. The process is designed to be simple, quick and hygienic.

After your sample arrives at the laboratory, analysis usually takes 3–4 weeks.

Timing can vary depending on the lab’s workload and the time it takes to ship from your location. When your report is ready, we email you with secure access details and information on how to book a consultation if you wish

Your report is designed to be clear and practical. It usually includes:

  • a summary of key findings in your microbiome
  • explanations of what these patterns may mean for your gut health and digestion
  • notes on how they may relate to symptoms such as bloating, discomfort, irregular bowel habits or skin issues
  • guidance on food patterns and habits that may support your gut

The report is intended to be read in a way that makes it easy to turn findings into everyday actions.

How often to retest depends on:

  • your starting point and goals
  • the severity and duration of your symptoms
  • the changes you are making to your diet and lifestyle

Some people like to retest after several months to see how their microbiome has shifted after consistent changes; others focus on ongoing nutrition support without retesting. Your practitioner can help you decide what makes sense for you.

Consultations & Nutrition Support

No. Anyone can book a consultation, with or without a microbiome test.

You might choose a consultation if you:

  • want help with gut‑friendly eating for symptoms, intolerances or allergies
  • are unsure which foods feel safe
  • would like guidance on building a realistic, not overly restrictive, way of eating

If you also complete the BiaMetrix test, your practitioner will integrate your results into this guidance, but testing is not required.

A consultation is an online video session where we:

  • discuss your symptoms, history, lifestyle and goals
  • review your BiaMetrix report if you have one
  • explore potential links between your microbiome, digestion, skin and overall wellbeing
  • look at patterns that may relate to tendencies towards IBS‑type symptoms, SIBO‑like patterns or gluten sensitivity
  • agree on small, achievable nutrition changes and practical food ideas

You leave with a personalised action plan you can start using straight away.

Consultations are delivered by qualified nutrition professionals within the BiaMetrix team, led by nutritional scientist Anna Santos.

All practitioners use a science‑informed, allergy‑aware and practical approach to gut health and nutrition.

Yes. Depending on your needs, you may receive:

  • food categories and patterns that are likely to support your gut
  • foods or habits we recommend reviewing or adjusting
  • examples of meals, swaps and routines tailored to your preferences and restrictions

Over time, BiaMetrix will also offer access to gut‑friendly recipes and resources aligned with common gut patterns.

Safety & Suitability

No.

You should always seek medical advice if you have:

  • severe, new or rapidly worsening symptoms
  • blood in your stool, black/tarry stools or unexplained weight loss
  • persistent vomiting, high fever with abdominal symptoms, or intense pain
  • any other symptoms that worry you

BiaMetrix is designed to complement, not replace, the care you receive from your healthcare provider.

BiaMetrix may not be the right first step if you:

  • have significant or rapidly worsening gut symptoms
  • notice blood in your stool or marked unexplained weight loss
  • have persistent vomiting, high fever or strong abdominal pain
  • have been advised by a doctor to seek urgent investigation

In these situations, please consult a healthcare professional before considering any microbiome or nutrition programme.

In many cases, yes, as additional support, not treatment.

BiaMetrix can help you if you:

  • already have a diagnosis and want clearer, day‑to‑day food guidance
  • feel your current plan is very restricted and would like help making it more sustainable
  • want to understand how your microbiome and nutrition may relate to your symptoms

You should always continue to follow the advice of your doctor, gastroenterologist or allergist.

Please do not stop or change any prescribed medication for this test. Always follow your healthcare provider’s advice.

You can list any medicines or supplements you take on your intake form so they can be considered when interpreting your results.
